Timber seized

Forest department official seized 26 pieces of Sal timber logs along the Gongia River at Balanga bazaar, which were illegally brought by smugglers today morning under Dotma PS in Kokrajhar district.

According to sources, the timbers were rescued following forest department official and local publics jointly initiated step against smuggling under the direction of Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma late last night and seized this morning. The market value of the seized timbers would be over 2 lakhs. The timbers were brought through Gongia River by smugglers from Kachugaon forest division, said a senior forest official.
