Awareness programme on trafficking
Udalguri district the District Child Protection Unit in collaboration of Pherengadao, a local NGO, has organised an awareness programme on human trafficking at Bordoloi Bhawan, Tangla on Wednesday. The programme was chaired by Tangla College professor Ghateswar Baruah.
Speaking on the occasion, State Child Protection Society Programme Manager Savio Laura said "We have to join hands together to curb the menace of human trafficking. By propagating false promises children's are lured to urban areas and racketed through traffickers."
The programme also attended by journalists, SDC Dithakananda Hazarika, Anganwadi workers, VDP members,village headmen, etc.

TANGLA: The teachers and students of Tangla College bad farewell to teacher Jayanta Kr. Chakravarty on his retirement on Wednesday. In his farewell address he advised the students to trace out the positive aspects and hone their skills theirby channelizing their mind to pursue subjects where one is passionate. UDALGURI: The Udalguri district committee of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) is preparing to enforce a 24 hour long Udalguri district bandh on February 15 alleging failure of BTAD administration to keep its promises. Talking to reporters, Aranya Deka, A Saikia and B. Rajbongshi, alleged that despite full support to the ruling BPF in the last BTC elections, the BTC authority did not fulfill its assurance to construct a students’ hostel for the community at Udalguri and intentionally directed to construct it outside Udalguri town area.The decision was taken at a district unit meeting of AKRSU, where the leaders criticized the present role of the BTC authority in the region.
