Step to check price hikes

A high official meeting of Food Civil Supply & Consumers affairs was held at joint director office and CHD office of Food Civil Supply & Consumers affairs office premises with Robinson Mushahary,Principal Secretary,BTC in the chair in Kokrajhar on Monday.

The meeting, which was convened by BTC Principal Secretary,discussed thoroughly on the issues of price hikes of essential commodities in the market and bazars in Kokrajhar district along with others districts of the state.The meeting was organised after Chief Minsiter Sarbananda Sonowal, directed all Deputy Commissioners of the state to dispatch a report about price hikes on all essential commodities all over the state within stipulated time. Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner, officials from concern department,Kokrajhar Municipality Board Chairman,Merchant Association members,traders were also present on the meeting and shared about checking and bringing back down of price hikes. Mushahary said that we discussed about the price hikes on essential commodities and decided to checking programme along the markets by tomorrow.

Madhav Prasad Sarma,DC Kokrajhar said that a checking programme on price hikes would be conducted tomorrow along bazaars under Swachch Bharat Abhijan initiative.We will conduct two groups of checking troup along Kokrajhar main bazar in southern part and another group will tour at several bazars along northern part town.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar.
