Meet at Dimakuchi against drug abuse and illicit trafficking

 Situated in a critically backward area near Bhutan border,people of Dimakuchi had been suffering much due to iliteracy, financial backwardness and transport bottlenecks.A meeting was recently held at Dimakuchi college on June 26 against drug abuse and illicit traficking on the occasion “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”.The programme was organized by Bhergaon Civil administration in association with local NGO Ferangadaw.J Basumatari,principal,Dimakuchi college presided over the meeting.Udayaditya Gogoi,SDO(C),Bhergaon sub-division inaugurated the meeting.On the occasion he spoke on the effects of drug abuse and illicit trafficking on common people. Requesting parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children he said that it was difficult to to give up drugs once addicted people showed withdrawal symtomtoms.He further said that drug addicted people could do anything causing untold harm to society.Earlier an awareness rally was taken out through the street of Dimakuchi market which was flagged off by DN Hazarika,SDO(S),Udalguri.Hundreds of students,teachers,guardians and government officials including Saptati Endow,AC,Bhergaon took part in the rally.Several distinguished people of the sub-division namely-Kamali Rani Basumatari,MLA,Paneri LAC;senior journalist Rabi Ram Boro,Pabitra Deka etc addressed people in the open meeting requesting all to unite against drug abuse,illicit trafficking,witch hunting and neither to spread nor believing false rumours spread by vested interested people.
