Blood donation camp

Over 30 peoples volunteerly donated bloods on the blood dontaion camp organised by Marwari Yuva Manch,Kokrajhar and Jagriti Brach at Marwari Bhawan on Saturday in Kokrajhar. Madhav Prasad Sarma, Deputy Commssioner,Kokrajhar graced as chief guest on the camp.

Sarma, appreciated the camp being organised to donate blood and hope that the donating blood would be benefitted for needy persons among society. ‘It was a good step from the manch while donate blood,which is extending helping hand toward needy peoples’,said Sarma.

Vijay Bhura and Dilip Sethia, organisers of the camp said that they organised camp to donate blood in the region.

Doctor and medical staffs from Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital attended the camp.

CAB Row: Five protesters held in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. Activists and members from All Assam Nath Yogi Students Union carried out a protest demonstration along the JD Road near District Computer centre in Kokrajhar against the CAB bill and burnt effigies of Sonowal and Sarma. The protestors staged protest demonstration with shouting slogans demanding early withdrawal of the bill. The protestors violated CrPC 144 clamp in the district", said a senior police officer.

Bandh affects normal life,protesters burnt tyres on road

KOKRAJHAR: Normal life was paralised  in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) region on Tuesday due to 11-hour north east bandh called to put protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which was tabled in Lok Sabha on Monday amidst strong oppossed from different corner. AGP to contest in BTC elections

KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. He said that seat sharing discussion will be finalised in due time and party is getting several seats.

Social activist Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passes away

KOKRAJHAR: Noted social activist, former leader of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and close associate of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Guwahati. Brahma was admitted at the hospital few months back following some illness. He left a son and daughter and his wife. Journalisn workshop held

A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Young journalists from different six districts of the state- Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar participated the workshop. Goreswar lifts BTAD-Army football premier league

KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday. For Goreswar, Jegyas Deka netted first goal in 21st minutes. ABMSU demands for justice to Lafikul murder case

KOKRAJHAR:  A two-hour sit-in-protest dharna was staged on Wednesday at children park near DC office demanding  justice to the Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder case, and stopping increased atrocities on minority community in the name of doubtful D-voters in the state. Review committee visits detention center

KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials.
