AASAA memo in home ministry

The Adivasi people in Assam again raised demands before the Centre to accord immediate ST status to help them develop on all fronts.

Submitting a memorandum before the home ministry in New Delhi on Tuesday, the All Adivasi Student Association of Assam said that over the years they have received only assurances and it has yet to be materialized. They said that the ST status should not have any area restriction.

The demand is not new. They were assured of the status before the assembly polls. But that has not happened along with 5 other ethnic tribes.
