Bodo Writers’ festival concluded
The 1st Bodo Writers’ Festival cum Book Exhibition & sale programme was concluded at KC College, Shimla in Baksa district after two days scheduled programmes on Monday.
It was organized by the Sahitya Akademi and Bodo Sahitya Sabha to bring writing environment among writers community.
Chapaguri MLA Thaneswar Basumatary inaugurated the programme which was chaired by Padmashri(Dr) Kameswar Brahma on the first day yesterday. Gopal Chandra Barman, Regional Secretary, Sahitya Akademi, Kolkatta gave the welcome address.
Premananda Machahary, Convenor Sahitya Akademi Bodo Board has the introduction while BSS vice president Bisweswar Basumatary has the keynote address on the occasion.
Discussion on various topics like ‘Why do I write?’, ‘Trends of different Literary Genres’, ‘Poets’ meet, ‘Short story writers’ were held during the two days.
Many writers, academicians, intellectuals including Sahitya Akademi awardee writers and other writers participated in the programme. Among those who attended the programme, includes Sahitya Akademi awarded Brajendra Kumar Brahma, Janil Kumar Brahma, Dharanidhar Wary, Managalsingh Hazoary, Bidyasagar Narzary, Aurobinda Uzir, and others participated on the occasion.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language.
Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi)
Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. She has authored many books in Bodo language and contributed a lot to the uplift and development of Bodo literature.
Several literary lovers and Bodo Sahitya Sabha have congratulated her for being named for the Sahitya Akademy award.
