Bhadreswar Dihingia, A farmer collects "Bhut Jolokia" or "Naga Chili" peppers in his field at Bakata in Sivasagar district of Assam on 17-07-2008. Bhut jolokia, a thumb-sized chili pepper with frightening potency, rated the hottest chili in the world by Guinness World Records. It is widely eaten as a spice, a cure for stomach troubles and, seemingly paradoxically, a way to fight the crippling summer heat too.

ULFA's political ideologue Bhimakanta Buragohain died at his residence in Tinsukia district on Monday. The end came at 5-30 in the evening at his Dhola Ahom Gaon residence following a massive cardiac arrest. The bachelor who lived alone with his security guards was keeping well during the last few months.

Congress leader Pankaj Bora has been elected to the Rajya Sabha Uncontested. The official announcement was made on Thursday when the date for withdawal of nomination was over. Apart from the forme minister Bora, Congress activist Jesim Raja filed nomintion papers but it was rejected citing technical reasons.
