2 tortured to death at Bhutiachang

In another tragic incident, two Adivasi workers were tortured to death at Bhutiachang tea garden in Udalguri district last night on June 15.According to information Sona Pator (30) father of three children and Kanhaiya Bhukta (35) father of four were picked up by a group last night alleging that both of them had been involved in stealing money from Suresh Tanti, MCLA, BTC a few days back. Taking both to a house, members of the group started beating them brutally whole night till their death in the morning of June 16.The group members threw away body of Sona Pator in front of his house at Bhutiachang TE old line while the body of Kanhaiya was thrown in the Bhutiachang market.According to family sources the group tortured the two at the direction of BTC MCLA Suresh Tanti.

The matter was about to create violation of law and order situation in the district. Taking no chances,Udalguri police swung into action and and finally arrested Suresh Tanti, BTC MCLA and Sanjoy Anthony for the deaths of the two.While talking to this correspondent,Rakesh Roshan, Superintendent of Police, Udalguri said that police would never allow anybody to take law in own hands.”Police will not hesitate to take action against any body in this incident and if found guilty all will be put behind bars,irrespective of their social and political status”, the SP said.In the meantime Sadhana Hojai,DC, Udalguri has directed all civil and police officials to be alert and to maintain law and order in the district.DC also requested people not to be emotionally carried away by rumours.It needs mention that in two earlier incidents one boy was brutally beaten at Harisinga suspecting to be a thief and villagers severely injured other,burning his new vehicle at Udalguri suspecting him to be a child lifter last fortnight.
