22 fake universities wooing students

Every year lots of northeastern students going out for higher education different part of the country. However, an MHRD-run board, National Institute of Open Schooling, has a list of fake boards in the country on its website for awareness of student.

"As per information available with the UGC, there are 22 universities (in the country) which have been listed in the UGC list of fake universities and are functioning in contravention or violation of the UGC Act, 1956, in different parts of the country," Irani told the Rajya Sabha.The Centre has started a portal "KnowYourCollege" and a mobileApp providing details about universities and colleges.


List of fake Universities as on 15 March , 2016:

  1. Maithili University/Vishwavidyalaya, Darbhanga, Bihar.

  2. Commercial University Ltd., Daryaganj, Delhi.

  3. United Nations University, Delhi.

  4. Vocational University, Delhi.

  7. Badaganvi Sarkar World Open University Education Society, Gokak, Belgaum, Karnataka.

  9. Raja Arabic University, Nagpur, Maharashtra.

  10. D.D.B. Sanskrit University, Putur, Trichi, Tamil Nadu.

Manipuri student committed suicide in Chennai
