The north eastern students organisation are all out to ensure socio-political and economic rights of the region’s indigenous people. Led by Mizoram law minister H Rammawri, law minister, an all party delegation from Mizoram, is currently touring the region to build a strong public opinion in this regard.
After winding its trip to Arunachal Pradesh, the delegation, arrived in Guwahati on Wednesday and hold talk with students leaders of North East Students Oganisation, All Assam Students Union at the Mizoram Bhawan.
Participating in the discussion, NESO chairman Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya said the students organizations of the north eastern region have agreed to fight for the constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people in the face of the unabated Bangladeshi infiltration. He said inner line permit should be introduced in the entire region instead of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland. He further informed that they discussed constitutional safeguard for the people of the region.
Beside law minister, the Mizoram delegation has state Congress general secretary Lalswata, MNF MLA Lalchandrama, NESO deputy chairman Lalmuanpuia besides a few MLAs and journalists. The delegation visited Arunchal Pradesh on July 14 to build public opinion on constitutional safeguards for the people of the region and also of inner line permit. The have also released a joint statement with the Mizoram government. The meting was attended by AASU president Sankar Prasad Roy, general secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi, member Bipul Rabha et al. Notably, the people of Mizoram are building strong public opinion against the June 13 Supreme Court’s interim order for withdrawal of inner line permit system from Mizoram.
