Ranjit Das new Assam Assembly Speaker

The newly elected legislative members took oath in the first day of the Assam assembly on Wednesday. Pro tem Speaker Phani Bhushan Chaudhury administered the members the oath as the legislative assembly members. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal was the first to have taken oath. The House unanimously elected Ranjit Kumar Das as the new Speaker. BJP, AGP, BPF, Congress and other leaders congratulated the Sorbhog BJP MLA and assured him of all possible help to ensure smooth conduct of the House proceedings. Assam Governor PB Acharya will address the session on Thursday morning.
