The six ethnic communities,who are demanding ST status in the state expressed resented over NDA government for not initiating to accord Scheduling, has warned to take vigorous agitation against BJP led NDA government if their demands are not meet within May 31 in the state.
The six ethnic communities,which included Koch Rajbongsi,Adivasi,Tai Ahom,Moran,Chutia,Motok will sit a meeting on the issue of granting ST status tomorrow at Dispur Press Club where they will discuss about partial response from the government on giving respectation to the indigenous peoples of the state.
Hiteswar Barman,AKRSU President said, ‘We welcome the initiave from centre while giving ST status to Bodo and Karbis in the state,but we are upset for not according ST stattus to six ethnic communities of the state for which why we are demanding strong solution’.
He has urged the centre to atke bold step to accord ST status to six ethnic communities to gain development and integration,otherwise we would be compelled to take vigorous mass agitation for the cause of scheduling across the state.
‘Only agitation would be the way to put pressure government to meet our demand and issues into reality’,Barman adding said that the students unions of the ethnic communities are ready to set agitation if government fail to accord scheduling status.
Stephen Lakra,vice-president,AASAA strongly reacted to the centre’s partial attitude towards granting Scheduled Tribes(ST) in the state.The students unions have been demanding early granting of scheduling to the ethnic communities,but government tactically declining to the issues.He also crticized government for not initiating any step to the demanding issues.
