Delhi CM tweets for treatment of a dying tusker
A badly injured eight years old wild tusker has been battling for life since May 18 at a remote village in India-Bhutan border in Udalguri district.The injured wild tusker had been very weak while entering Ganesh Ghat,(a remote village near Majuli tea garden)with other two wild elephants on May 18.Villagers could see several injury marks on its body and blood was seen oozing out from a deep injury on its fore head.Unable to cross a small stream, the tusker fell down.The matter had reported to forest department of Udalguri and a team of forest personnel along with Dr.S Sarma arrived at the spot on the morning of May 19.
Veterinary doctor tried his best to treat the tusker,but there was no positive response.Senior Manager of Nonaipara and Majuli tea garden also offered support but it was the counting day and nothing more could be done.According to attending veterinary doctor Dr.S Sarma the tusker had had started septicemia and had gone to coma stage after the fall.The incident has drawn world wide attention in social media.Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in his personal tweet requested Prime Minister Modi and Environment Minister Prakash Javedkar for the treatment of the tusker. Udalguri district Journalists' Union and Green Valley Forest and Wildlife Protection Society have express deep concern at the incident and requested forest and district administration,Udalguri for immediate arrangement of better treatment by experts
