Bohagi Utsav by Tangla Xuva Mancha concludes

Bohagi Utsav organized by Tangla Xuva Mancha concluded here on Tuesday. On the first day on May 14 as a part of the celebration unfurling of flag was done by Mintu Pathak President of the organizing committee which was followed by plantation of saplings. In the evening Bihu dance competition was held among childrens. On May 15 a Mukoli Bihu Competition was organized where participants from across the state participated. A District level competition was also held. Though the cultural night programme was scheduled to be held on May 16 it was postponed for May 17 due to unprecedented and incessant rainfall. The cultural night programme was held on Tuesday night. Despite heavy downpour music loving people thronged the Tangla HS field. Singing sensation Subasana Dutta and Chandan Raj enthralled the audience. Jun-Dole Bihu-Rani of DY365 competition also performed. Musical Group from Guwahati and Rati-Bihu troop also performed on stage.

The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. Meanwhile volunteers have been put to work to colect population and education data of the Bodo people and with the collected data a souvenir magazine would be published where data's of population; education, occupation of people number of service holder, cultivates, buisiness man would be published.
The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.

Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society.
