Workshop on Career counselling at Tangla College

With an aim to infuse knowledge on career making in the youth, a one day free ' workshop on career counselling programme was held at Tangla College wherein around 250 students participated. The programme was organized by Dept. of Education & IQAC cell of the college. The programme was inaugurated and presided by Dr. Prasen Daimari Principal and Prof Chandan Baruah of the College respectively.

The resource person who counselled the students was counsellor and columnist ofMelange magazine of The Sentinel Ranjan Kr. Baruah. Baruah spoke in length on the occasion, wherein he briefed the students as to what should be their target, how could the problems and hurdles be tackled and what is the success mantra for ultimate career progress. He stressed upon the students for not making wrong decisions in life, saying that one wrong decision could spoil anybody’s career. He further said that"

Youths from the NE region lack confidence thus majority of them even don't even appear in the exams of jobs offered by the central government and corporate houses". He urged the students to pursue their career in the fields they are passionate about. He mentioned about various Career perspectives ranging from careers on military, para-military,allied health and para-medical to careers on special educator catered to physical disabled people,Fashion designing,film,Drama ,management,civil service,banking and finance,sports instructor,mass communication, entrepreneurship and many more. He also awared the students on various scholarships and loans offeres by government and corporate houses of the nation to meritorious students for higher education. He urged the student community to turn people's problems to prospects and there by select one's career.

Earlier the purpose of the programme was elaborated by Prof. Abdul Karin. At the end of the meeting the vote of thanks was conveyed by Prof. Dr. Satyen Chakravorty. Chakravorty thanked the students for participating in large number despite heavy downpour he also thanked the professors for holding such programmes which are highly beneficial for youth with regard to making their careers. Students attending the programme were also given certificate of participation.

In yet another tragic incident, a youth was trampled to death by a loner wild jumbo in Paneri Tea Estate in Udalguri at about 10 pm on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Jaichan Kujur (25). Locals told that Kujur was confronted by the loner while he was on his way back home.
