Investiture ceremony at Sainik School Goalpara
Sainik School Goalpara (SSG), one of the pioneering institutes in the North Eastern region of the country, held its Investiture Ceremony for academic session 2016-17 on 14 May 2015. The day commenced with an impressive parade reviewed by Air Commodore B S Krishna Kumar, Kirti Chakra, Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Air Force Station, Borjhar. The Chief Guest bestowed Appointments upon 31 vibrant cadets as School Captain, School Adjutant, Mess Captain, School Vice-Captain, School Cultural Captain, House Captains / Vice-Captains, Senior & Juniors Prefects. This was followed by an Oath Taking Ceremony.
During his address to the cadets, the AOC recalled his days at Sainik School Kazakottam as a cadet and congratulated the newly inducted appointments and exhorted them to work hard for success. He expressed deep satisfaction over the progress made by the school over a period extending five long decades. He also urged the cadets to exhibit utmost sincerity and commitment and exploit every single opportunity in the campus, aimed at moulding them into dependable citizens of the country. The AOC lauded the measures initiated by the school and the efforts put in by the staff towards achieving greater heights in the future. He also visited all the academic and sports facilities in the school. In honour of the AOC, a Regimental Lunch was organized in the Sam Manekshaw Cadets’ mess. Capt (IN) Edwin Jothirajan, the Principal felicitated the Chief Guest. SSG was established in the year 1964 and it is one of the premier institutes in the region.

The Bodo medium was introduced on 18th May 1963 in Assam. It was in 1976 the Bodo medium Students were lucky to appear for the Secondary Examination. A good number of students have passed out since then. Many intellectuals and people working in different fields have also studied in Bodo medium. There are about 20 lakhs Bodo population in Assam of which 4 lakh are students in Bodo medium studying in lower primary, upper primary and high schools in Bodo medium. In a bid to generate awareness on climate change young people from different parts of northeast came together to form Youth Alliance for Climate in 2008. It was a youth programme conducted by Indo Global Social Service Society as a part of their SMILE programme. The participants of that programme decided to form a network as the discussion of the youth programme was on climate change. YAC organises programme in different parts of North East.
