24 hospitalized taking NRHM medicines

At least 24 persons including 9 children were taken ill after taking medicines from the mobile medical unit of the NRHM at Dotma Titeliguri in Kokrajhar district.

The victims complain of vomiting, headache, stomach pain after taking the medicines taken from the mobile medical unit on Friday. The medicines were said to be distributed free of cost by the mobile medical unit of NRHM held earlier in the day. They were admitted to Dotma PHC. Four of the serious were later referred to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital better treatment.

Dr B Barman,doctor of Dotma PHC said that the patients were admitted to this hospital following symptoms of vomiting,headache.

‘We are giving treatment to the admitted patients,besides serious were referred to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital’,said Dr Barman.

A high official team from Kokrajhar district administration rushed the hospital to take stock about incident and taking measure for the affected patients,said a district administration official.

Former Rajya Sabha MP and UPP president Urkhao Gwra Brahma,BTC MCLA Jyotirindra Brahma,BPF leaders Sangkharlal Brahma,Bakul Brahma,AIUDF leader and candidate for Kokrajhar west Dohit Chandra Brahma, ABMSU leaders visited the hospital and demanded inquiry into incident.

Former MP Brahma demanded thoroughly inquiry into incident and guilty persons should be punished.

The Abmsu also demanded proper inquiry into the incident,besides proper medical treatment to the affected persons in the situtaion.
