Golaghat correspondent of a Guwahati based vernacular daily allegedly tried to treat a female employee of a printing press at Golaghat with mischievous gesture. According to the owner of the press, the said correspondent with a bad intension came to the press during the lunch hour as he figured it that during that time the owner and the staff used to go out except the girl who is a computer operator there. One must salute the courage of the girl who strongly resisted the evil motivated correspondent and crying loudly made the alleged culprit to flee.
In this connection the owner of the press lodged a complaint with the Golaghat Journalists’ Association. The Association in its emergent Executive Meeting presided resolved to served a show cause notice to the said reporter and directed him to make his personal presence failing which proper actions will be taken against him.

Why was no legal action taken with immediately applicable? And why is the journalist association has to make a decision for his punishment? The disgrace should be stripped off from any part of society. I have been meticulously observing that most of the time if a media person (so called journalist) commits a crime, it does not appear in news. We should strongly condemn any type of cruelty that damages our society. No bias. Thanks for bringing up the news.

Despite watertight security, a low intensity blast exploded near Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s official residence in Koinadhara leaving a teenager boy injured on Saturday.He sustained injury when a detonator he carried home exploded near Gogoi's official residence at Koinadhora. Identified as Sanjib Das, the boy found the detonator attached to a wire at a stone quarry on the Assam-Meghalaya border and was carrying it home at Uday Nagar and it exploded in the high security area.According to police, the teenager suffered minor injuries in the explosion which was a small one and caused no damage. He said that Das was administered first aid at a hospital and released.

Police arrested a Guwahati based journalist for allegedly collecting lakhs of rupees from various people on the pretext of providing them jobs in public sector undertaking Oil India Ltd.Monikuntol Saikia was arrested yesterday based on a FIR filed by a person. Tension prevails in Tinsukia a day after the owner of a tea estate and his wife were charred to death by a mob of angry workers. The incident took place at the Borduma Tea Estate when the estate owner Mridul Kumar Bhattacharjee and his wife Rita Bhattacharjee were burnt alive in the evening. A local trader sustained serious injury at a shoot out in Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.The incident took place at night when unidentified gunmen fired upon the trader at his residence before disappearing in dense darkness. Identified as Bikash Sarkar, the injured businessman was rushed to the hospital. Police officials rushed to the spot but no one has so far been arrested.
