Preparation for vote counting

A meeting was held at the conference hall of the DC's office, Chirang on Friday in connection with the preparation of counting of votes for 31- Sidli (ST) LAC. All the administrative officers, concerned Cell Incharges, contesting candidates and agents of political parties were attended the meeting,was chaired by Rupak Kumar Mazumder, DC and DEO,Chirang. Mazumder, briefed on the procedures involved in the counting process called upon all officials to dicharge their respective duties sincerely for succesfull conduct of counting of votes on May 19 next. The counting of votes will be taken up at UN Brahma College, Kajalgaon from 8 AM.

He has appealed to all contesting candidates, agents and political parties to cooperate with the District administration for maintaining peace and harmony in the district after the result of election. He also explained in detail the rules and guidelines of the ECI for counting of votes and accordingly the preparation so far made by the district administration. He asked the district police to make tight security arrangemet arround the counting hall on the day of counting and to put police barricade at entry gate. He informed that there will be a single entry gate and no person having with proper identity cards issued from the RO and DC and the ECI will be allowed to enter the counting area. He informed about the arrangement of 14 tables and appointment of Micro observers, Counting Supervisors, Assistants and Gr-IV staff and their training scheduled on May 10. The meeting also discussed on the arrangement for round- wise tabulation, counting of postal ballots, EVM distribution, stting up of data management cell, media room etc. In the candidates were asked to submit the list of their counting agents in Form-18 immediately to the authority.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district. Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi) Presently, Boro is the head of the department of Bodo at Bodoland University. Amid a strict security vigil, arrested Gujrat Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was brought to Kokrajhar police station and later produced before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court.
