Eminent Sattriya dance exponent of Assam, Padmashri Jatin Goswami will attend the ‘Guest of the Month’ program of Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on 3 May. The interactive program will start at 11 am and conclude by 1 pm.
Born at Adhar Sattra of Dergaon in eastern Assam on 2 August 1933, Nrityacharya Goswami received his basic cultural education at home under the guidance of his father. Later he learned Sattriya dance from Maniram Dutta Muktiar and Roseswar Saikia Bayan. Moreover he got the opportunity to learn Assamese folk songs & dances under the guidance of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee performed Sattriya cultural items in various sessions of Asom Sahitya Sabha, Asom Sangeet Natak Akademi, Asom Sangeet Sanmilan etc. Presently Goswami is engaged in conducting training & workshops of Sattriya dance & dramas in different parts of the country.
