We are proud of you Mr. Mahadev Deka for bringing laurels to our state. Though miles away from home, such rare feat of achievement by any person from our native really makes the banner of Assam fly high and higher. Congrats once again!

This is last year news. He was runner up in Mr Universe 2008. Just 2 days back this year 2009, he has won the Mr. Universe. What about that news? Who has written these comments so late, after 1 year??

he is the trainer of our gym,,,i c him everyday,,,he is a very good human being..we r very much proud to c him...bt at the same time it feels so bad that the day he won the title the whole i was sittin in front of tv to c him...bt not a single news chanel has covered this story...except a local news chanel ie NE TV

It is indeed a proud moment for India and Assam, I am overjoyed by this exciting news and in fact took the pride in informing lots of my friends at office about this glorious achievement by Mr Mahadev Deka. I would like to congratulate Mr Mahadev Deka and would like him to reach more landmarks in coming years.

Its a great honour and respect to all the North eastern people...n an enthusiasm for all the youth..Mr Mahadev Deka showed us the way that everythig is possible... hope more of us (North east) folks was inspired by his success....n will always believe tht we also can reach the goal one day. I remember the first time I met Mahadeb sir. I had joined a gym for the first time in my life, and by sheer luck, he happened to be my coach. On my first day, it was he who saw me crash on my chest after 2 pushups, I was that weak. But then he worked his magic, and in 6 - 8 months, I was working out with significantly heavier weights each time, culminating in a point where, though I would not have qualified for any tournament, I was as fit as an athlete. So here's a big thank you to Mr. Mahadeb Deka. We'll always be proud of you, sir :)

Cong hails state Budget

Assam Congress hailed Tarun Gogoi's state budget for 2008-2009 saying it a pro poor people.The party has welcomed the proposals for food processing park in Chaygaon, Rs 75 crore to revive the Assam Finance Corporation, Palstic park in Tinsukia with a hope that these will go a long way to strengthen the state's economy. Gogoi tables Rs.2819.23 crore deficit budget

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has tabled a Rs 2189.23 crore crore deficit state budget on the floor of the House on Monday pledging to make Assam a healthy and wealthy state. In his speech, Mr Gogoi, who also holds the finance portfolio said the state has been making progress on several fronts. In his budget, Mr Gogoi proposed 65,000 new jobs for the youths in this fiscal. Gogoi to table state budget today

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is all set to table the state Budget for 2008-2009 on the floor of the House today. Speaking to Assam Times, Assam legislative Assembly officials here say Mr Gogoi who also holds the finance portfolio will table the budget today on 10 in the morning. ULFA strike at Hindi speaking people: 3 killed

ULFA is set to target against the Hindi speaking people in Assam forcing the authorities to beef up security arrangement in upper Assam. The banned insurgent outfit shot dead three brick kiln workers near Udalguri tea Estate in between Tengakhat and Chabuwa on Sunday midnight.According to information, a group of armed youth stormed into a brick kiln owned by one Shyam Gohain at around 10-30 on Sunday evening Immediately after entering, they started indiscriminate firing on the workers who were sleeping. Three of them killed on the spot while three others managed to escape from the spot. Police and civil officials arrived in the spot later and started investigation.

Blast in Dibrugarh: 6 injured

As many as six people have been left injured in upper Assam's Dibrugrah town when the suspected ULFA militants exploded a powerful hand grenade on Saturday evening. According to information, the blast took place at the Cole Road of the town at around 7-45 in the evening. All these injured people have been shifted to the Assam Medical College Hospital. The Hospital has already two people who received injury at the Tinsukia blast that rocked on the afternoon. 16 injured in Tinsukia blast

As many as sixteen people have been injured while a powerful bomb exploded in Tinsukia town at around 1 pm on Saturday. According to information, the blast took place at the busy GNB Road in front of a grocery. The injured people have been rushed to the hospital. High level police and civil officials have arrived in the spot to start operation. Meanwhile, one more crude bomb have been recovered just before a while. Details are awaited.
