Wild jumbo ransacks houses in Udalguri

Man-Elephant conflict in Udalguri district has taken worst turn in recent times. A loner jumbo created havoc in Nalapara area of Udalguri district bordering Indo-Bhutan on Saturday morning. The loner jumbo ransacked many houses on Friday night besides ransacking three rooms of Nalapara L.P school on saturday morning. Though the affected people have informed forest officials regarding the same but they have not turned up alleged the villagers. No loss of life was reported.

In yet another brutal incident, a man killed his wife in inebriated condition at Orangajuli tea garden near Panery on Friday morning. Identified as Pada Orang, he hit his wife with a wooden stick over trivial matters on Friday morning who died on the spot. Panery Police immediately rushed the spot and arrested the accused husband.

A group of nearly 10 armed  biker  miscreants looted ₹20 lakh from a Wagon-R car(AS06-E 7721) which was carrying bank cash from Udalguri SBI to Rowta SBI  near Kahibari in broad day light triggering sensation in the entire area on Friday.  The incident took place at 1.30 in the afternoon when an SBI employee,a bank guard and a driver were on the way to Rowta Chariali branch.  The SBI vehicle was forced to stop at gunpoint by the group of miscreants after it crossed Kahibari and snatched away the bag of money and their mobile phones . The miscreants also snatched the DBBL shot gun and 7 live cartridges from the bank guard.    
A total of ten promising athletes have been selected to represent Assam at Vishakhapattanam of Andhra Pradesh to participate in the 15th junior national inter district athletic meet to be held from November 24 to November 26 next. Yet another wild elephant is believed to have died of food poisoning in Udalguri district sending shock and anger among the animal lovers across the state. A female elephant of around 9-10 year old which was moving in a huge herd in at Ganeshghat village along the Indo-Bhutan border on Friday wee hours was found dead beside a small tea garden.
The Udalguri police nabbed two bike lifters and found four two wheelers from their possession on Thursday.  Acting on s tip off, police conducted raids in Khoirabari and Bhairabkund where the bikes were recovered. Headed by DSP (HQ),Udalguri Moidul Islam and assisted by SDPO Bhergaon Barun Purkayastha, the police team nabbed Jayanta Brahma alias Kebla alias Babloo from Khoirabari and Mintu Barman from Udalguri. A case has been registered against them at Udalguri PS under relevant sections of IPC.
