Nursing school at Numaligarh

A historic Trust Deed was signed between NRL and Vivekananda Kendra (VK), Kanyakumari for setting up a Nursing School in Numaligarh on April 20. The proposed ‘VK NRL Nursing School ’ shall be managed by the newly formed ‘VK-NRL Nursing School Trust’ comprising of members from NRL and Vivekananda Kendra.

The Trust Deed was signed by MD P. Padmanabhan (As settler); Director (Technical)  S.R. Medhi; Director (Finance)  S.K. Barua; Sr. GM (HR),  A. K. Bhattacharya; GM (Commercial and Legal)  D. Choudhury (As trustees) while  Dipak Borthakur;  K N Hazarika and Prabin Dabholkar signed the Deed on behalf of Vivekananda Kendra at a solemn function held at Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC), Guwahati.

This social venture of setting up a Nursing School in Numaligarh has been initiated by NRL under its CSR activities; which amongst others focuses on skill development and generating livelihood opportunities for the local people.

In the last financial year 2015-16, NRL sponsored 14 girls from the neighbourhood under its flagship scheme,  ‘Uttoron’,  for undertaking Nursing courses in Downtown University, Guwahati. The proposed ‘VK NRL Nursing School’ is expected to  enroll more and more local girls and boys and train them in the noble profession of Nursing, thereby providing ample opportunities for their employment in the State and elsewhere.
