Seven jehadis arrested

Police administration in lower Assam has been intensifying its operation against Jehadi elements. On Thursday, seven Jehadi activists were apprehended, included an emam from Rajpara area under in Chirang dsitrict.

Hundreds of citizens from greater Amguri area gathered at Amguri Thana(PS) in protest against allegedly arrest of Joynal along with six others,who have been charged involved with Jehadi elements in the region and demanded early release of arrested persons,besides warn of strong agitation if persons are not released. Protestors also shouted slogans like police administration hai hai,arrested should be release,besides demanded the arrested peoples should be release without any condition at soon as possible. On Sunday last(April 17), four jehadi elements were apprehended from three different locations in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Chirang district.

 In continue operation of the Dawkanagar jehadi camp under Dhaligaon police station in Chirang district that was busted in September last year, an operation was carried out by a team of Chirang police, seven Jehadi elements were apprehended from different two locations in Chirang in the wee hours of last night. The arrested persons were identified as Joynal Abedin,an emam of Rajpara Mosque,Rezzak Ali(Rajpara), Soleiman Sheik,Dilbar Rahman,Nurul Islam,Rafiqul Islam and Ukiluddin Ali (Dawkhanagar).Four mobile hansets recovered from them.

BTAD(IGP) Dr LR Bishnoi, addressing the reporters at Kajalgaon in Chirang today said that police administration has been launching strong operation against Jehadi in the area.There are inputs about working of jehadi elements in the region through the elements has been trying to establish link among common masses,Bishnoi said.

‘We have been investigating into incident and expected that more inputs would be gathered in days to coming’,Bishnoi added.

Abul Sheik, a protestor said, ‘The arrest of Joynal Abedin,an emam of a Moszid was unfortunate and unwanted,was a conspiracy against him from police administration. Joynal was not involved with any Jehadi or anti-national activities. Joynal was a teacher of a Moktab in the area,the arrest of minority peoples should be stopped in the name of Jehadi elements’.

Hussain Ali,another villager Rajpara area said that we strongly protest the arrest of an emam from the area in protest against police’s act on common citizens. Joynal and other arrested members should be released.

‘We want peace and harmony,so arrest and atrocities on common masses be stopped to meet healthy living’,agitated villagers said.
