Thunderstorm kills one

A person was died and another received serious injury following heavy thunderstorm hit at two separate incidents in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.

The heavy rain and thunderstorm came around 10 am in the morning in some areas in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district,leaving one person identified as Lakshman Chouhan, 60 of Jamguri Chouhanbasti,Chandrapara died and another tea estate labour received serious injured at Lalmati village near Kokrajhar town. Chouhan was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar Rup Nath Brahma civil hospital, but doctors declared him brought death.The injury rushed to hospital,was identified as Pramila Biswas(29), who was plucking green tea leaf at Kokrajhar tea estate while the thunderstorm hit at her.

Kartik Rabi Das, relative of casualty said that the man was died today morning following thunderstorm hit at him in his own home at Jamguri Chandrapara area in Kokrajhar.The thunderstorm was so heavy that struck at him and died.

Kanin Biswas, father of Pramila said, ‘His daughter received injury following thunderstorm hit her at Kokrajhar tea-estate when she was busy tea leaf plucking.The day was saw bad weather since morning and face of natural calamities’.

Dr MK Phukan,doctor said, ‘A person was found brought dead in the hospital and another also received serious injury for thunderstorm hit. Different cases have been found in the hospital since few days for natural calamities happening in the region’. ‘Peoples should not be out without chappals during the thunderstorm to safe from unwanted incident during heavy thunderstorm’, he said.
