NDFB-S cadre arrested

Security forces belonging to police and army, in a joint operation arrested a cadre of National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction from Mainaguri area on Tuesday under Kachugaon PS in Kokrajhar district. The cadre was identified as Bipul Mushahary alias Bigrai Mushahary, 31, of Mohendrapur, was trained in 2011. He was involved with extortion, money collection, kidnapping, arms peddling and providing logistic supports to banned terrorist organizations. A country made pistol and two bullet was recovered from him.

One cadre and two linkmen (over ground worker) of NDFB-S were apprehended in a joint operation of security forces from Titaguri area in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. Bwisagu celebrated in Kokrajhar

Baukhungri festival concludes

The fourth Baukhungri festival was concluded with two-day colourful programme scheduled here at Harinaguri, 10km east of Kokrajhar town along the Baukhungri Hill in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. Sea of people, young and old, men and women, irrespective of caste, creed and community, headed the 'Baukhungri Hill’ to scale the hill on the Sankranti,a day before Bwisagu or Bihu. Repolling after Bihu

The re-polling to the No.24 polling station at Kachugaon LP school(right side) under 28-Gosaigaon LAC in Kokrajhar district has not been scheduled yet,but expecting that it would be held after Bihu. The re-polling was necesiated following EVM anomaly on the final phase of assembly polls held on Monday.The re-polling is likely to be scheduled on April 17 or 18 after Bihu in the district,said an election officer in Kokrajhar.   

KLO arrested

Security forces belonging to Assam police and army in a joint operation, apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation(KLO) from Nayekgaon area on Tuesday in Kokrajhar district. Based on a specific information about presence of the militant organisation,a joint team of police and army launched an operation in the are and apprehended a KLO cadre along with arm. The cadre was identified as Ajay Barman alias Takla,20,of Darnagpur of Baksa district.He was involved with extortion,kidnapping,recruiting new cadres,logistic supports to militant outfits. A pistol and a live bullet was recovered from him.

Repolling in Gossaigaon LAC, 82% poll turn

Around 82 percent poll  turn was recorded in three constituencies in Kokrajhar district on Monday, besides a repolling was declared for EVM anomalies at 24-polling station at Kachugaon LP school on the second phase Assam assembly polls.According to Gossaigaon district election officer, the repolling was declared at Kachugaon LP School polling following EVM anomalies during ongoing voting on the day.
