Public averts fire at Tangla
The local public quickly extinguished a small fire at about 11:20 a.m. on Thursday behind Smart Kitchen store, Old SBI Branch Complex in Tangla. The fire was reported in the electricity meter box. The local public thronged into action and doused the fire. This correspondent was present at the time of the incident and contacted the fire brigade office following which team of firefighters rushed the spot and took stock of the situation. Timely action and of the public averted a major incident. No injuries have been reported.

The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
