Reports received from remote areas of Assam confirm that many people got wounded because of the quake.

Meanwhile, panic gripped the State of Assam in the midst of spring festival called Rongali Bihu. In Guwahati many Bihu functions were delayed. Many trains were also halted in the region as a precautionary measure, informed the NF Railway authority.
