Udalguri wushu team to participate in Students’ Olympic

A five member group of Wushu players from Udalguri, BTAD has been selected to play for India in the second Students’ Olympic to be held in Colombo in Sri Lanka from April 15 to April 19 next. This was informed to this correspondent by Dhaneswar Basumatary, general secretary of the Students’ Olympic Association, Udalguri district today.The team includes Dhaneswar Basumatary under age group of 22, Ejible Daimari, under 17, Lucky Daimari, under 17 Shyam Mochahari under 19 and Madhusmita Basumatary, under 19. Dhaneswar Basumatary also informed that the students’ Olympic is an international sports events for the students’ from various parts of the world which is held every year in different countries of the world.The team is leaving for Sri Lanka from Chennai on April 11 next.

40 Field Regiment of Army and Udalguri police apprehended one hardcore NDFB cadre Mukuta Boro alias B.Mwsagra of Chinakona village near Khoirabari on the night of March 24.Rakesh Roshan,SP Udalguri told media that huge quantities of arms including one factory made 7.65mm pistol,four nos .36 grenade,three nos fuzes,twenty 7.65 live rounds of ammunitions etc.had been recovered from the cadre.

In a very tragic and shocking incident six endangered species of Himalayan vultures died and two critically injured in Udmari village near Kalaigaon in Darrang district on March 16 due to poisoning.The incident has caused sensation in the district and everybody has condemned the poisoning of the innocent vultures. Encounter took place  between a group of NDFB(S) militant and a police party comprising SP and  Addl.S.P. Udalguri, OC, Mazbat PS, IPS (Proby) and other police personnel in Hatipota village under Mazbat PS last night on March 15.
