Udalguri wushu team to participate in Students’ Olympic
A five member group of Wushu players from Udalguri, BTAD has been selected to play for India in the second Students’ Olympic to be held in Colombo in Sri Lanka from April 15 to April 19 next. This was informed to this correspondent by Dhaneswar Basumatary, general secretary of the Students’ Olympic Association, Udalguri district today.The team includes Dhaneswar Basumatary under age group of 22, Ejible Daimari, under 17, Lucky Daimari, under 17 Shyam Mochahari under 19 and Madhusmita Basumatary, under 19. Dhaneswar Basumatary also informed that the students’ Olympic is an international sports events for the students’ from various parts of the world which is held every year in different countries of the world.The team is leaving for Sri Lanka from Chennai on April 11 next.

A minor girl dead and dozen others fell ill after they consumed prasad served at a religious function in Udalguri district on Friday. The tragic incident took place in Kalaigaon area where a ten year old girl died early in the morning. At least 71 others have complained of stomach ace and vomitting hours after they consumed prasad. The deceased was identified as Dipsikha Nath who died at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Talking to media, ADC DN Hazariaka said that the incident took place hours after they consumed prasad at the house of Harakanta Nath on Wednesday.
