Acid attack on Guwahati lawyer

In a shocking incident, an advocate of Guwahati High Court has faced acid attack on Saturday evening. The advocate was attacked while she was getting down from a bus in Bharalumukh bus station in Bharaumukh area of Guwahati by unknown miscreants. The attackers threw acid on her face and the victim has got injury in her eyes. She has been shifted to Shankardeva Netralaya in Guwahati.

”I do not know who is behind the crime. The attackers threw acid while I was getting down from a bus and ran away quickly on a motor cycle.”said the victim. Meanwhile a case has been registered in Bharalumukh Police Station in connection with the crime. Police has arrested one person in connection with the attack who happens to be a fellow advocate in Guwahati High Court

Man trampled to death by wild jumbos

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.
