Health camp at Saralpara

A total of 640 patients from greater Saralpara thronged the medical and awareness camp to receive medical check-up on Saturday along the Indo-Bhutan border of Kokrajhar district, was organized by Army unit of Red Horns Division.

Madhav Prasad Sarma, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar inaugurated the camp.

The camp conducted medical check-up on various which included TB detection, Malaria detection, Dental check-up as well as distributed free of cost medicines to the needy patients. An election awareness campaign was also conducted followed by distribution of furniture, school bags, stationary among school students of Saralpara LP School.

On the other hand, 16 Bn SSB Ranighuli was organized a medical civic action programme along with Samajik Chetna Abhiyan under perception management for the welfare of population of border areas at Ultapani area on Friday.

Several notebook, pen, pencil were distributed among students, besides, free water supply for villagers of Bangaon, Sonapur in the area were distributed. A K C Singh, Commandant of the battalion distributed the materials.

‘Irrespective of citizens of the local area expressed their gratitude to SSB for not only taking care of their security needs but also for undertaking various community welfare programmes for border region of the district’, said a citizen.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Fakiragram bazar turn into ashes

Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. Businessman attacked

A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. Vehicular thief arrested

Salakati police in Kokrajhar district arrested a vehicular thief late last night at Salakati rail track.  He was identified as Naba Das of Belsar in Nalbari district, who was involved with stealing of a four wheeler Mahindra pick up van bearing registration AS-16C-2207. An FIR was registered no.138/16 with Salakati police outpost in this connection, under section (u/s) 457/380/411 IPC. 

KLO ultra held

In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. Mock drill in Kokrajhar

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. A live fire fighting exercise was carried out alongside the drill by Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
