U-17 Subrato Cup football tournament begins

The 4th edition of Subrato Mukherjee Football tournament began today in the IGJ Hr. Sec School ground, Pasighat with the DDSE Obuk Panor kicking the football in presence of hundreds of soccer lovers. 

Chief Guest Panor in his brief speech advised the youths to show their best skills through discipline and sportsman spirit to foster deeper understanding and friendship throughout the tournament. While appreciating the organizing committee, the DDSE said such tournament would spread unity and oneness among youths and help them too keep physically fit.

The opening match played between DEM Hr. Sec School and Bilat Hr. Sec School ended by 1-0, adding much excitement. No team could open account during the framed time. Twenty minutes were given extra but yielded no result. Finally, Tanam Ering of DEM Hr. Sec School netted a goal in tie-breaker and DEM Hr. Sec School won the opening match. Five teams are participating at the district level tourney and the final match will be played on Jan-28 next.

Trees getting uprooted and falling on electrical lines, resulting in hours of power outage is a common phenomenon during monsoon. Normal power supply remains heavily interrupted on the Pasighat-Pangin power line after a huge tree fell on a powerful a electric wire on Monday. Engineers along with departmental staffs have already been pressed into restoration process. It would take two days or more to reconnect the network.
