Republic Day celebrated at Tangla
ADC Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta hoisted the national flag at Tangla HS School play ground in the presence of nearly three thousand people. 21 contingents of NCC, Scouts and Guides and students from local schools took part in march past event. Speaking on the occasion Mahanta urged the people to remember the great souls of Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters who sacrificed their life for the sake of nation. He requested people to maintain peace in the society. He remarked that it is an age of Internet. It is an age of gaining and exploring knowledge. He said that though there are ITI institutes in Udalguri dustricy yet there is a step decline in fresh candidates joining these institutes. He further remarked that ASEB's APDCL has iniated a 33 KW sub-station at Tangla which would ensure continuous power supply to the town. He also said that state government would provide bus service to students coming from nearby places to the town. E-governance would also be iniated in Harisinga Revenue Circle.
Two persons namely- Ranjit Sarkar and Usha Rani Nath (BLO) were felicitated for their respective contribution in Collection of Electoral Datas. Besides students namely Atlanta Das, Anindeeta Deka, Jugmi Boro, Ramboraj Basumatari were felicitated for securing cent percent marks in Mathematics during last HSLC exams. Other distinguished guests of the event were Binoy Medhi, Manmohan Das, Orijit Singh Commandent SSB,Tangla etc; At 11.40 am fruits were distributed to the patient's of 30 beded Kala Guru Bishnu Prasad Rabha CHC, Tangla.

TANGLA: Noted Bodo writer Dr.Rita Baro has fetched no less pride to the people of Assam when she was declared the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award in Bodo language. Dr Baro has been named for Sahitya Akademi award for her short-novel, 'Thwisam'. The novel deals with the story of a spoiled martyr's son who leaves home after cheating his mother of the ex-gratia compensation amount received from the government for his father's death. In yet another brutal incident, a man killed his wife in inebriated condition at Orangajuli tea garden near Panery on Friday morning. Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad was observed with traditional fervour in Tangla on Friday.Celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, the day commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. A group of nearly 10 armed biker miscreants looted ₹20 lakh from a Wagon-R car(AS06-E 7721) which was carrying bank cash from Udalguri SBI to Rowta SBI near Kahibari in broad day light triggering sensation in the entire area on Friday. The incident took place at 1.30 in the afternoon when an SBI employee,a bank guard and a driver were on the way to Rowta Chariali branch. The SBI vehicle was forced to stop at gunpoint by the group of miscreants after it crossed Kahibari and snatched away the bag of money and their mobile phones . The miscreants also snatched the DBBL shot gun and 7 live cartridges from the bank guard.
A total of ten promising athletes have been selected to represent Assam at Vishakhapattanam of Andhra Pradesh to participate in the 15th junior national inter district athletic meet to be held from November 24 to November 26 next. This was informed to this correspondent by Samuel Daimari, honorary general secretary of Udalguri district Athletic Association. The junior athletes who already left the state for the meet are Karan Herenz, Rupesh Gour, Rishan Rai Boro, Nitish Saikia, Neel Daimari, Lukesh Rabha, Partha Protim Rabha, Jagadish Rabha and Jintu Rabha.
