Kokrajhar ready to celebrate Republic Day
All kinds of preparations including security deployments have so far completed by this evening to celebrate the 67th Republic Day of India on Tuesday in the district.
The district administration,Kokrajhar has arranged its programme at Govt Higher Secondary & MP School ground in Kokrajhar,besides Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora sub-division(civil) have also arranged separate progarmme scheduled respectively on the day.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary will hoist national tri-colour flag at Kokrajhar, Parliamentary Secretary,Govt of Assam Shibcharan Basumatary and Parbatjhora SDO(civil) Shatish Chandra Thakuriya will hoist tri-colour flag at Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora respectively.
Madhav Prasad Sharma, Kokrajhar DC has reviewed security arrangement holding a high-level meeting with the officials of district police administration, paramilitary and Army officials to tighten security across the district to prevent any untoward incident during the celebration. He has appealed to all sections of the people to participate and celebrate the occasion with national spirit and fervour by joining hands together.
Kokrajhar DM also promulgated Section 144 CrPC in the district preventing pillion riding on two-wheelers to check any attempt of terrorism and shall remain in force until further orders.
The district administration will also organize a children’s sports programme and a friendly cricket match between DC’s XI vs BTC-XI at Government HS and MP School playground at 2 pm on the day.

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday. Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return.
