Cenetary celebration of Chatgari Government Middle Vernacular School
The three day-long centenary celebration of Chatgari Government Middle Vernacular School came to an end on Monday.
The programme which was started with the hoisting of the flag by,Manmohan Das president of the centenary celebration committee at 9 am. Following which 100 flags were hoisted by social personalities,buisinessman some of them are Santius Kujur MP Rajya Sabha,Jayanta Chakravorty and Professor Dept. of English Tangla College.Tribute to the departed souls was paid by Santius Kujur. Cycle stand,drinking water plant,plantation of trees.A procession was taken out followed by naam kirtan.
At 1.45 pm Science exhibition was held by students of two private English schools .A cultural permanent stage was inagurated by D.N Hazarika SDC Kalaigaon revenue circle. On the second day diyas were lighted on the ocassion of Silpi Divas.Followed by a drawing competition among childrens. Bonjar Daimiri EM BTC inagurated the library. It was followed by a seminar on the topic "Development of Human Resource in present Education system" where Thaneswar Malakar ,Director Sarva Sikha Mission,Idrish Ali Former Vice-President Assam Sahitya Sabha spoke up. On the third day an open session was held which was inagurated by Sadhana Hojai DC Udalguri.Khampa Borgayari EM BTC was the chief guest of the ocassion. Other distinguished guest include Arupa Patangia Kalita, Sahitya Akademi Award winner,Ramen Deka MP Lok Sabha,Kamali Basumatari MLA Panery LAC and many others. The third day-long programme came to an end with the cultural night were popular singer Dipen Baryah and Vreegu Kashyap enthralled the audience.

TANGLA: Noted Bodo writer Dr.Rita Baro has fetched no less pride to the people of Assam when she was declared the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award in Bodo language. Dr Baro has been named for Sahitya Akademi award for her short-novel, 'Thwisam'. In yet another brutal incident, a man killed his wife in inebriated condition at Orangajuli tea garden near Panery on Friday morning. A group of nearly 10 armed biker miscreants looted ₹20 lakh from a Wagon-R car(AS06-E 7721) which was carrying bank cash from Udalguri SBI to Rowta SBI near Kahibari in broad day light triggering sensation in the entire area on Friday. The incident took place at 1.30 in the afternoon when an SBI employee,a bank guard and a driver were on the way to Rowta Chariali branch. The SBI vehicle was forced to stop at gunpoint by the group of miscreants after it crossed Kahibari and snatched away the bag of money and their mobile phones . The miscreants also snatched the DBBL shot gun and 7 live cartridges from the bank guard.
A total of ten promising athletes have been selected to represent Assam at Vishakhapattanam of Andhra Pradesh to participate in the 15th junior national inter district athletic meet to be held from November 24 to November 26 next. This was informed to this correspondent by Samuel Daimari, honorary general secretary of Udalguri district Athletic Association. The junior athletes who already left the state for the meet are Karan Herenz, Rupesh Gour, Rishan Rai Boro, Nitish Saikia, Neel Daimari, Lukesh Rabha, Partha Protim Rabha, Jagadish Rabha and Jintu Rabha.
