East Siang Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla inaugurated the Pulse polio immunization booth at the General Hospital, Pasighat in presence of JDHS Dr. Kabang Lego, DMO Dr. M Perme, Hospital Superintendent Dr. YR Darang and staff members administering the vaccine to few children, below five years of age in the district.
DC Khosla on the occasion instructed officers to conduct the programme with perfect planning to achieve 100 percent target and also urged them to check that no child was left in the district without administering the oral polio vaccine.
According to East Siang DMO Dr. Perme, 7,525 children below 5 years of age were immunized pulse polio drops on the first day in Siang and East Siang district. Elaborate arrangements have been made to organize pulse-polio immunization programme in Siang and East Siang districts today. Adequate staffs have been deputed to all PHCs and CHCs to make the program successful, added Dr. Perme.

Trees getting uprooted and falling on electrical lines, resulting in hours of power outage is a common phenomenon during monsoon. Normal power supply remains heavily interrupted on the Pasighat-Pangin power line after a huge tree fell on a powerful a electric wire on Monday. Engineers along with departmental staffs have already been pressed into restoration process. It would take two days or more to reconnect the network.
