The 12th South Asian Games, 2016 to be held in Guwahati and Shillong from 5th to 16th February is already creating lots of vibes - not just across the region or the host states, but also in the country as a whole. Dubbed as the biggest ever sporting extravaganza of the region, the two host cities Guwahati and Shillong are leaving no stone unturned to make the event a grand success. The entire 12-day event will witness a large contingent of international athletes from eight participating nations battling against each other to establish their supremacy in 23 different sporting disciplines.
In an effort to make the event a spectacle of different kind and for the convenience of the participants, the Organisers have decided to run more than 200 buses and almost half of it would be especially made available for the athletes and their support staff. Apart from this, arrangements for more than 200 cars have also been made for the convenience of the participants, staff and other officials. Brightly coloured buses, branded with Games logo and mascot would add spark to the urban look of both Guwahati and Shillong. All the accredited journalists will have the opportunity to travel in these buses, and for the assistance of the transport seekers there would be help desks at each venue in both the cities.
The two states are upbeat regarding the sporting extravaganza and both the states would gain a lot by hosting the different disciplines. Apart from giving a fresh look to the sporting scene of all the venues, the event would also make the venues ready for hosting further international, national or regional sporting events.

Tinsukia, March 22: Suspected militants of the banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) launched a pre-dawn attack on an Assam Police commando camp in the Jagun area of Tinsukia district, leaving at least four security personnel injured.
According to reports, the militants attacked the camp around 2 a.m., allegedly lobbing several grenades and opening fire with automatic weapons.
