Bolen Boro new priest

Deacon Bolen Boro of Barama Parish of Baksa district will be ordained as priest on January 9 by Bishop of Bongaigoan Diocese Thomas Pulloppillil. 

The solemn celebration would be taken place at Catholic Church of Barama in Baksa district. Deacon Bolen Boro will be the first to be ordained as a priest from Catholic Parish of Barama, of Christ's one Holly Catholic and Apostolic church for the Diocese of Bongaigoan. He is the fifth son of the family of Bakul Ramchiary and late Mongli Ramchiary, who migrated from Gwramakha village of Baksa district in the year 1986. Boro, finished his matriculation from Barimakha High School of Baksa district from Modo medium and completed his HS and Graduation from Barama College. He joined seminary the preparatory training centre to be a priest after completing his graduation. Now, he completed the theological studies after being anointed as a deacon and will be ordained as a priest.

A reception committee has been formed for the successful celebration of the ceremony. All prayers and presence are requested to attend the function, Khrwmshar Basumatary, president, Barama Parish Catholic Parents Committee informed.

Terror rerun in BTAD; 8 killed

BTAD areas seem to have embroiled in a fresh string of murder and mayhem. Seven persons including two children were killed in yet another incident of militant attack on Friday wee hours.The incident took place at Balapara village in Gossaigaon on Friday wee hours when a gang of suspected NDFB-S militants indiscriminately fired upon two houses where seven persons died on the spot. Journalist attacked

Journalist Dhananjoy Nath, staff reporter of Dainik Janasadaran and Secretary of Kokrajhar Press Club  was attacked by the unidentified miscreant on Thursday evening around 7.15 pm. when he was on his way from Kokrajhar Tiniali to Bhutiyapara, his home. Nath said that two motorcycles borne miscreants tried  to kidnap him showing a pistol. BTAD burning again: 3 killed

Bullets seem to have riddled BTAD again. In a fresh orgy of violence, unidentified miscreants shot dead three of a family and four others including a journalist were shot at in BTAD areas on Thursday.The first incident took place at Ananda Bazar in Baska in the evening when four bicycle born armed miscreants started indiscriminate firing at the house of a religious minority family where three died on the spot. Bear cubs return to wild

Three orphaned Asiatic black bears cubs (Ursus thibetanus) were moved into the wild in Manas National Park on Thursday in Baksa district. The cubs were found alone in Mayanpara, Siyalmara and Kumarikhata villages in the fringes of the UNESCO World Heritage in December last year. With their mothers presumably killed, the cubs had been restrained and handed over to the Forest Department and IFAW-WTI for care and rehabilitation.IFAW-WTI has rehabilitated 31 Asiatic black bear cubs in the northeast Indian states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh till date. Woman dies at 101

A 101-year-old woman died in Kokrajhar leaving behind a pall of gloom in the entire district on Tuesday.She was none other than Saoni Basumatary, popularly known as Durmao who breathed her last in the morning at her own residence in Kanthalguri village in the district.Her family members told Assam Times that the end came at 8-30 in the morning because of her brief ailment.Beside being a village headwoman and she was associated with a number of social activities. Even on April 24 she exercised her franchise at Bechimari polling centre in Kokrajhar.People of all walks of life condoled her death and prayed for eternal peace of her departed soul.
