District administration on road alerts

Chirang district administration has been put alerts the police and all concern departments to make accident free and check all road related situated in the district.


In a significant move to control road accidents in the district, the Chirang deputy commissioner Rupak Kumar Mazumdar has put alert recently the police and other concerned departments. It is to be stated that  there have been regular accidents, some fatal, on the newly constructed NH-31(C) at certain vulnerable spots like Dhaligaon, Palashbari, Sidli and Kashikotra which he felt necessity of urgent attention of the officers entrusted for traffic control. As such, based on the allegation made by the local residents, he expressed his concern over the rash driving by Bhutanese vehicles,  pillion riding without helmets, reaching late of ambulances at the accident sites, not adequately installing road signs for diversion, no roads, speed breakers and warnings to pedestrians at vulnerable locations and haphazard truck parking on the National Highway. In this connection, he requested the Chirang SP to detail adequate police personnel on the highway for checking violation of traffic rules, pillion riding without helmets, rash driving, intoxicated driving etc. Accordingly, he also requested the authorities of the NHAI, PWD (R&B), DTO, Health Services and Town Committees to put all efforts from their parts to prevent accidents in the district.It was stated by Gagan Chandra Narzary,Chirang DIPRO.
