Much to a major boost for Congress in rank and file in Assam, Prashant Kishore has agreed to help the ruling party in the assembly polls March next year.
The brain behind the grand alliance in Bihar, who held a round of informal talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently, left New Delhi for Guwahati on Thursday afternoon.
Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that the poll Chanakya will hunker down with Tarun Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday to finalise the pre poll strategy when the Congress vice president will on a two days visit to the state on Friday.
"Gogoi recently talked to Prashant at the instance of Rahulji who agreed, in principle, to help Gogoi retain the power in Dispur," said a senior AICC leader.
Notably, former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta met Kishore in the capital on Tuesday evening and discuss the strategy an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave in Assam. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar helped Mahanta met the poll strategist at the Bihar Bhawan in the evening.

GUWAHATI: The Assam police team probing the coal scam has arrested three enforcement officers of the transport department in Guwahati on Saturday. GUWAHATI: The Dibrugarh polic team probing the APSC scam is interrogating the wife of an arrested police officer for allegedly helping her husband resorting to forgery. Acting on the revelations, Kaushik Kalita, the accused APS officer got his answers written by his wife after the civil and allied service examination.
