Militant cadres arrested in BTAD area

In a major success, security forces arrested 10 cadres of NDFB (S), National Liberation Front of Bengali (NLFB) and NSCN (IM) including sergeant major of NSCN, deputy C-in-C of NLFB, senior woman cadre of NDFB (S) from different districts of BTAD districts of Assam since last 36 hours, besides recovery of huge arms.

Getting a tip top information about presence of militants, 7 Sikh Light Infantry conducted operation along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang on Tuesday and  arrested a senior woman cadre of NDFB(S). She was identified as Mijink Basumtary, 23-years-old. A grenade recovered from her possession. She was 40th batch cadre of the outfit organization and wife of NIA’s wanted Jaola Basumatary, who was recently killed in an encounter with army.

In Kokrajhar, security forces from the army and police apprehended two persons including a NDFB-S rebel and a linkman from Jaleswar under Kachugaon police station on Wednesday. The arrested were identified as Agnesh Mushahary alias Kenkra of NDFB and Nikhil Daimary alias Ajay. Two pistols with four live rounds of ammunitions were recovered from them. 36 hand grenades were also recovered from their possession.

In another incident in Udalguri district, security forces on Wednesday morning arrested seven more cadres of NDFB(S), NSCN (IM) and NLFB from various parts of the district. Local Police and 40 fields Regiment of army Borangajuli conducted a search operation and managed to arrest Ashique Daimary and Nerswn Boro from Tangla, both were NDFB (S) cadre. Based on their input, security forces again conducted another operation at Goraibari village under Udalguri PS where forces arrested 7 more cadres. They were identified as Jipirush Narzary (NDFB-S),Vihuto Sumi, self-styleed sergeant major of NSCN-IM, Ajit Biswash, deputy C-in-C of NLFB, Lalchand Mandal, cadre of NLFB, Ratanlal Mazumdar,(NLFB). Two 7.65 pistols, four magazines, 50 rounds of assorted ammunitions, nine mobile handsets and some incriminating materials were recovered from them.

Dr LR Bishnoi, BTAD(IGP) said that the militant cadres were arrested during search operation in the districts.The police and security forces will continue their strong operation, Bishnoi added.
