Health assessment camp on World Disabled Day

Hundreds of Disabled Persons from various parts of the BTAD four districts participated in the health assessment camp organised here at Choto Molandubi on the occasion World Disabled Day in Kokrajhar today.

The day was organised by BTAD Disabled Welfare Development(NGO) in association with District Social Welfare officer,Kokrajhar to mark the world disabled day observation among disabled persons in the region.

A health assessment camp was organised on the day which was inaugurated by Niranajan Baruah,Kokrajhar ADC in the presence of disabled persons thronged from various parts of the districts.

Doctor and experts on disabilities from Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India(ALIMCO),Kanpur under the department  of empowerment of persons with disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment assessed health and physical status of the participated the disabled persons which included Orthopedic,hearing impaired,deep and dump.

The assessed persons would be facilitated materials aid like tricycle,hearing instrument from the govt through based report of assessment camp.

An open meeting was also organised on the occasion with Nandolal Choudhury,director of the NGO in the chair and discussed on the various issues and problems of disabled persons.

Satyaban Brahma,DSWO Kokrajhar,Malaya Deka,Chairperson of CWC,Kokrajhar were among others prominent attendees on the day.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. A live fire fighting exercise was carried out alongside the drill by Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
