UPP boost for Assembly election

With just few months to go for the ensuing Assam assembly election scheduled by early next year, the United People’s Party (UPP), the regional party in the state is making all possible effort to strengthen the party ahead of the election. 

A CWC meeting of the party was held on Tuesday at Rowta in Udalguri where the party constituted a 5 member constituency study committee(CSC) with BTC MCLA Rwngwra Narzary as convenor, party vice presidents-Bhraman Baglary, Satyaban Mandal, Pratibha Brahma and party secretary Sujit Basumatary as members. 

Urkhao Gwra Brahma, party president and ex MP, in a press statement said that the constituency study committee will do thorough study on three main points- voting pattern of the constituencies, history of preceding two elections if the recent past and problems & prospects for the forthcoming Assembly election for the party.

The UPP has also decided to hold workshop on party’s youth cell, women cell, Scheduled Caste(SC) cell and Minority cell with a step to energise the youths, women, SC and minorities sections of the society with a view to strengthening the party and prepare the same for the ensuing elections. 

Stating that the party is committed to work for equal justice, rights and due security to the lives and properties of the people, he said, ‘The party is ready to overcome any kind of challenges and fight against corruptions, injustices and all kinds of intolerance in politics and society. 

On the party contesting elections, he said the UPP firmly decides to fight the assembly polls and achieve a huge victory with popular support for radical change. He said the party has set target in atleast 17 constituencies for direct contest in the coming Assembly election in the state. The party has also decided to extend its support to like-minded candidates who agree to certain conditions of the party in other constituencies where it has substantially strong bases, he said.

On the other political parties, he said that the political parties including the ruling and opposition are in great dilemma with their prospect of wining the election because fractured view points of the voters of the state

‘The UPP is clear enough about the prospect because of its distinct commitments towards the solutions of the burning, political and non-political problems of the state,Brahma said.

He also said that the UPP is committed to unearth the hidden secrets of rampant corruption in all sectors of rural development like IAY, job cards, MGNREFA, roads, tourism, agriculture, education and others and bring about public awareness to check them for the public interests.
