Pre-poll boost for Tarun Gogoi

In a move that can help Assam Congress approach the people in the time of assembly polls a prominent media group in New Delhi has honoured Tarun Gogoi for his landmark achievement on the state's infrastructure front.

In a survey the India Today Group found that the north eastern state has moved to 7th rank from 19th in terms of overall growth.

Gogoi received the award from Union home minister Rajnath Singh at the India Today Conclave on Friday in the capital.

"It is a moral booster for Congress and Tarun Gogoi six months ahead of the assembly polls," said a senior Congress leader.

"The India Today report has expose sheer lies of the Centre where one after another ministers has been slamming the chief minister alleging lack of initiatives for sustainable development," he said.
