49th College Day of JNC starts

49th College Day celebration at Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat declared open today by the state’s education minister Tapang Taloh amidst cheers and colourful presentation by the students. 

Addressing the huge gathering in the college ground, Taloh in his impressive speech stated “Discipline is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students”. He termed that discipline is like an addiction and once the students are disciplined then it is difficult to get rid of that and each pleasure of life can be experienced. According to him discipline was equally essential for all age of group but for students it holds a great value. Success would be theirs who value and practice self-discipline in life to scale newer heights of academic excellence. He urged the students to be attentive, punctual and hardworking to become worthy citizens of the nation. Students need to acquire latest knowledge through rigorous academic process and also should take part in sports and games to make them physically fit and personality development, he opined. There are reservations in sports quota to get for government jobs he informed and further advised the students to develop unity and brotherhood through such activities. The minister appealed teaching community to impart quality education and to put all-out efforts to make the society vibrant and advanced. Taloh also urged the college fraternity to adopt cleanliness as a permanent ethos of their life and work for generating awareness regarding clean atmosphere, personal hygiene and pollution free campus.

While highlighting the developments being brought under the dynamic leadership of the present Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, the education minister informed that 01 Cr. has been earmarked for quarters of the faculties and good amounts for laboratory of JNC and in addition, Two new buses and one Bolero for the principal have been given recently. Under RUSA, four crores has been sanctioned to promote higher education and the college authority should strictly monitor and should not compromise with the quality works, he added. He asked the district administration to provide at least 10 Acrs of land to establish the Arunachal State University for which 10 Crs. has already been sanctioned.

Deepak Shinde in his address stated that it was time to rejoice and to celebrate as annual festival of the college. Taking privilege, Shinde urged the youths to take part in various competitions undertaken by the administration under preparation of Smart City Proposal. 

College Principal Tayek Talom presented a detail achievement and progress report and advised the students to be punctual and sincere for all round development. JNC Students Union General Secretary Guni Pabin also apprised the minister about the demands and grievances of the students and submitted a six point memorandum for infrastructure and academic development of the college. 

Mega dance and traditional dance and various sports activities were the other highlight of the day.

Trees getting uprooted and falling on electrical lines, resulting in hours of power outage is a common phenomenon during monsoon. Normal power supply remains heavily interrupted on the Pasighat-Pangin power line after a huge tree fell on a powerful a electric wire on Monday. Engineers along with departmental staffs have already been pressed into restoration process. It would take two days or more to reconnect the network.
