SC to hear ad ban review plea in Jan

The Supreme Court has refused to hear the review petitions of Assam, West Bengal and Kerala on the ban on the photographs of political leaders on the government advertisments saying that it would be taken up in January as soon as the Centre files its affidavits.  

A bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose on Tuesday declined to pass any order saying that it would hear in January the petitions including by the centre seeking the review of its verdict. The court fixed January 12 as the next date of hearing. Senior counsel Kapil Sibal appeared on behalf of the Assam government while senior lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Meera Bhatia opposed the plea to review the judgment.

A north eastern girl died and two others sustained serious injury when they fell from atop a high rise building in New Delhi on Sunday. The incident took in the Humayunpur area of the national capital where the trio who hailed from Nagaland suddenly fell into the ground from their multi storied building in the afternoon.The girl died on the spot while the two other boys have been battling for life at the All India Institute of Medical Science.
