No trace of Golaghat youth

Police mn in Jorhat and Golaghat are conducting an operation in search of a 26 year old boy who went missing last week. Identified as Jayanta Gogoi, he went missing when he was on the way to Dohotia in Jorhat from his home at 1 No. Ahom Gaon. His parents have lodged a complaint before the police alleging that he was kidnappped.

The Junior Science Congress concluded in Golaghat on Sunday suggesting lots of scope for uplift of the scientific skills among the school students. Organized in Negheriting, many students district participated in the event and demonstrated their projects. Out of 32, only 10 projects were selected for the state level event in Titabor. These include two from the Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya. The projects belonged to Gitashri Barua, Debangona Goswami, Bhaswat Bhushan, Biswadip Saikia and Aditya Shankar Nath.  
A pall of gloom descends in Golaghat when a bus rammed into a biker in the outskirt of the town on Saturday. The accident took place in Padumoni the speeding bus bearing No AS05-B-5309 hit the biker Mridupawan Hazarika who was on his way to Dergaon on his bike. Midupawan died on the spot and the bus driver managed to flee from the spot fearing mob attack.  
The Golaghat police are all set to ensure peace and normalcy during the Durga Puja celebrations. The policemen in the town conducted a mock drill at the Golaghat Sadar Police Station on Friday. Police officials told Assam Times that every possible measure would be taken to avert untoward incident during the puja celebration. 
There has been steep rise in the number of theft cases in Golaghat town leaving the police force red faced. Five bikes have been stolen in this town during the last four days. But not even a single person has been caught so far.  
A pall of gloom descends in the Debraj Roy College premises in Golaghat after an employee committed suicide on Friday. He was Sanjay Adhyapak who committed suicide by hanging himself inside the college campus to be discovered in the morning. In his suicide note he blamed grim financial crisis for his extreme step.

The authorities in Golaghat district have published draft electoral rolls of No 95 Golaghat and No 96 Khumtai assembly constituencies according to the Election Commission guidelines. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) David Kumar Timung and District Election Officer Jitu Kumar Das, the draft voter list was published on Monday. There has been provision for claims and objections for the voters and for the Khumtai constituency the claims and objections would be dealt till November 11.
