Tuki clears Rs 44 cr to Panchayats

The Arunachal Pradesh government has released an amount of Rs 44 crore to the Panchayati Raj institutions for developmental projects at the grass root as per their respective developmental plans chalked out on need basis. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki who releases of the amount on Monday observed that the third tier of government works the closest with the rural population and therefore has the first hand understanding of the needs and potentials of the rural areas.

“It is the commitment of our Government for devolution of the 3Fs to the local self Government and accordingly we have concentrated on requirements of the basic services in all the villages,” he said. The grant under the 14th Finance Commission will be utilized by the Panchayati Raji institutions for welfare and developmental projects like garbage management, drainage system, electrification, etc in villages.

In his budget 2015-2016, Tuki proposed placement of Rs 100.00 crore for rural local bodies, which included Rs 88.52 crore from the FFC Grants. For this he had suggested a need based action plan to be prepared by engaging experts for maximum benefit to the villagers.
